Cherry blossom culture for Japanese people, Part II

I wrote this in previous blog, the graduation and entering ceremony is held at the cherry blossom season. Strictly speaking, however, some places' cherry blossoms are later than that.

The north part of Japan, like Akita, Aomori, they have cherry blossoms one month later, especially Hokkaido's blooming is two month later than Tokyo!

So, When traveling up to north Japan with the cherry blossom front, you can keep seeing cherry blossoms for two months!

This Showing Cherry blossoms map. I’m sorry, It’s in Japanese, but the numbers represent the date of the first cherry blooming.

The latest place is the most east of Hokkaido,

Every year, Japanese people wait for the arrival of cherry blossoms, wondering when the cherry blossoms will begin to bloom.

Take a look at above pictures. They are each district famous cherry blossom spots in Tokyo. There are 86 spots! Amazing number, isn’t it? Yes, you can see cherry blossoms in many places.

And each place is proud of their cherry blossoms.

This year, I couldn't give any tours because of covit-19. I was able to visit many famous cherry blossoms places.

The scenery of the large cherry blossom trees is spectacular, but a neat cherry blossom tree that blooms in the small park was also attractive.

We like cherry blossoms so much that we eat cherry leaves. It wraps a Japanese sweet called Sakuramochi. The leaves are soaked in salt and vinegar. The scent of cherry blossoms is faint and very delicious, but it may not be loved by young children so much.

On top of that, we created Sakura-cha, or Cherry blossom tea. It also slightly salty and aroma. Floating in a teacup, it looks pretty. That makes you comfortable because it is a taste of spring!

The other day, I came across an exhibition about cherry blossoms. This is students' hand made exhibition. They are acting on growing one old cherry tree. The students wrote letters towards cherry trees and  a keeper of the tree and communicate their gratefulness. Somthing like this give the children more affectionate towards cherry blossoms.

I have talked about cherry blossoms from various angles.

Curiously, the cherry blossoms welcome us in the same way every year, but we never get tired of it. And we always say thank you to Sakura, cherry blossoms.

When you come to Japan during the cherry blossom season and walk along the rows of cherry blossom trees, you will feel very peaceful for sure. That's because everyone around you is smiling and enjoying the cherry blossoms. It's a truly peaceful and happy time in a calm spring.

Thanks for more Sakura information. They are the most beautiful trees when in bloom.
